Introduction

I have finally decided to start my Blog.

So first let me introduce myself. My name is Federico Garcia, I am Colombian and lived most part of my life there. Grew up in this beautiful and full of contrast small world. Pursuing some dreams and in “the search” of a new experience, I came to Germany. I did some studies in the university and then worked in some companies. By having my full time taken away and consumed by my working activities I came to realize that my time was being spend into something that did not add value to my life, or my loved ones, or my close family and friends, or anybody I could potentially care, including myself.

I changed my job position to something more stable, where I could potentially use my creativity and capability. Up to date, I’ve done some stuff, but not of real impact to humanity, its value can be seen only in the extent of making some company have more profit or gain. That, in the end is not a contribution I can claim to be marked as “making a difference”.

Since I was in a more stable position, I started to have more time for myself, and consequently I wanted to use it in something that will give some added value, just real value. Something that can express the emotional side of life which is commonly ignored. In my opinion, to have more time and spend it in some volatile activity is OK, but it is far better when you are able to capitalize the time in building something that lasts and can be enjoyed further. I wanted (and still want) to make something that has value, that leaves a legacy and that is positive with the time that I have in my existence.

I’ve drawn and sketched since I can remember and I was good at it. When I was in 4th grade I draw a cartoon of all my classmates, it was so good that replaced the picture of the class in the yearbook. I used to do lot of graffiti type of drawings and cartoon-comic style as a kid. It lasted until my teenage years where I actually fully stopped drawing as an activity. Nonetheless, through all my school, university and work years I’ve constantly doodled and make small sketches or drawings. Commonly I make a drawing instead of a sentence to remind me of something. As life goes by my drawing activity has been always present in a second plane, and I never pursue it into a deeper extent.

One day in a hardware store I saw a set of Acrylic paints and in that moment I decided to take the chance. I just got these cheap acrylic set, some brushes, and some canvas board, and decided to make a painting. As I started my first painting, I had very low expectation of it being nice and I surprised myself by my result. I’ve had never a formal training, or done anything in such a direction, yet I completed a piece that made me realize that I can accomplish more than what I’ve expected.

Since then I’ve been, reading, seeing blogs, following other artists, painting, trying to build my own techniques, applying other techniques, gathering concepts, etc.. In the end forming a base for my art. It has been for me a beautiful journey and learning experience, and I plan to keep expanding it.

I’m trying through this Blog to expand my exposure to others. To show my art outside of my small social circle. I’ve created my paintings for them to be seen and enjoyed and I want to share them with you. I wish they bring you some joy.

Enjoy browsing my Blog…
